An exercise and sport science major with a double minor in secondary education and health, Brayden is excited to pursue a career as a physical education and health teacher who inspires students.

“My professors and classmates bring about a culture that inspires me as a teacher to excel in my classes and in my work.”

Why Carthage?

“I was interested in Carthage because I was recruited for the cross country and track teams. However, the more research I did, the more I loved Carthage’s physical education program. I also loved how pretty the campus was and how close all the academic buildings were to the dorms.”

Faculty mentors

“The thing I love most about Carthage is the relationships I have built with my professors. Each of my professors have helped me grow into a better student and teacher. The professors here are also very understanding, which has made it easy to balance my sport with academics.”

Favorite class

“My favorite class was Elementary Physical Education: Principles of Movement because it gave me valuable experience teaching elementary students and helped build my confidence and competency.”

Golden opportunities

“I have had the opportunity to teach at Union Grove High School, where I worked with my fellow teachers and classmates to come up with a unique lesson that I can incorporate into my teaching when I graduate.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is the indoor track because it is where I probably spend most of my time throughout the year. My practices for track are there. Plus, it’s where I get to practice my lessons for my teaching career.”

Favorite memory

“My favorite moment was watching my fellow teammate break the D3 NCAA record for weight throw at an indoor meet at Carthage.”
